New York: George H. Doran Company, 1919. Trade Edition. Hardcover. Early US trade edition. This book is in Very Good- condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean condition. There is some light bumping, rubbing and beginning fraying to the spine ends, corners and spine joints. The covers of the book have several spots of whitish discoloration or ground-in dirt. The text pages are generally clean, but a bit toned, especially around the edges, and on the half title page. This copy has its front endpaper removed, and the front inner hinge has cracked. The rear inner hinge is starting to crack as well. There is a previous owner's inked name and date on the half title page. "Léon Denis (January 1, 1846 – March 12, 1927) was a notable spiritist philosopher, and with Gabriel Delanne and Camille Flammarion, one of the principal exponents of spiritism after the death of Allan Kardec. He lectured throughout Europe at international conferences of spiritism and spiritualism, promoting the idea of survival of the soul after death and the implications of this for human relations. He is known as the apostle of French spiritism" "“According to some theosophists the return of the soul to flesh is effected usually each fifteen hundred years. But our own testimony, gained from great spirits does not confirm this. Interrogated in great number and from various centers, they reply that reincarnation is much more rapid than that.
